Karin makes a sleeping bag case

I made this the other day because I gave my sleeping bag case away to a guy in Copenhagen since he needed it more than I did. Also I like this new one a lot better since it's easier to carry it around with a larger handle. And it's prettier. Sadly my sleeping bag itself is really ugly so now I'm thinking I will need to decorate it somehow to match the case. The fabric is as always thrifted...

Ps! Our friend Pierre will guest blog for us a little bit this week! He has a lot of creative projects going on. And Åsa has finally graduated from bagery school and will be a little less busy perhaps. I have a week of intense studying ahead and then I will have summer off and start sewing clothes for my site again!

Karin & Frej making a banner

I stole this one above from Yelah.net

Frej and I sewed and embroided a banner (all from vintage fabric & thread) and went to Copenhagen to demonstrate against the meeting at Bella Center.

Karin mending dresses

I got these two broken dresses from Johanna & Mattias and decided to mend them yesterday on our sewing circle night. The pink 20s one was cut up by the shoulders and had to be taken up quite a bit since it was pretty stained by the hem. The pale turquoise one had a cut off sleeve so I cut the other one of too and made it sleeveless instead. Should have ironed it before I took pictures though…

Beautiful details.

Karin is really busy and has no time for anything creative whatsoever...

But I did make this fabric bag for grocery shopping and book carrying, from a fabric my talented flatmate Ulrika has designed.

Karin - dress made at the craft circle yesterday

I made a long vintage gown that Mattias gave me in to a short coctail dress with a detatchable over skirt that you can wear separately.
I took the bust decoration away and used it for the wide waist of the over skirt, cut the gown in half and used the bottom part for the over skirt, then I just hemmed the remaining dress part. It's really easy to do. (I know the hem needs to be ironed but I can't do that today so I just took a picture anyway)

Karin mending glasses

Hey! Sorry I'm bad with updating, it's hard when my enforcer is in Malmö and I myself am very busy with other things also. I've started my classes, am doing stuff with my website and have also started the project of documenting everything I own and justifying why I need it. Which takes a lot of time and thinking too.

Anyway, my glasses that I've had since I was 14-ish broke a while ago and I'm way too poor to go to and fix them. The glass fell out and a small screw went missing. So I just sewed them back together again with black thread by hand and now they are good as new (though I still don't like them much).

Karin finally finished that dress.

I finally took the time to finish the dress I made from the cut off skirt Mattias gave me! I cut the skirt up to get rid of some stains that wouldn't come out, put it back together again without the stained parts, removed one of the bows from the skirt and put it on the bodice I constructed in vintage velvet fabric I've found at a thrift store. Then I put elastics in the bottom part of the dress to make it a short puffy one. It's almost a full circle skirt so it has lots of volume now.

Karin - bonus posting a little bit

I just thought I'd show some things I've sewn and sold in the past. All is made from vintage material since I don't buy new fabrics or decorations due to my sincere hatred of the textile industry. The jacket and skirt is modelled by me, the green dress is a customer photo from beautiful Alejandra.

Karin decorates a bra

When my friend had a boob job she gave me some of her old bras. All were black and pretty neutral though so I decided I'd decorate one yesterday. This was really really easy to do, just shirr a vintage ribbon and attach, and make a few bows to put where you want them. I'll make a matching pair of underwear some other day.

Ps Åsa, update with the marsipan!!

Karin brags a little to make up for a lost day.

Here's amazing Cissi Wallin in a jacket I made once upon a time. Because I spent my day in bed with Frej watching conspiracy movies and Naomi Wolf speaches and thus have nothing to show for.

Karin

Here's the dress I made the day before yesterday, I made it from pieces of a vintage dress that had been cut up, it was given to me by my sewing teacher about two years ago but I forgot all about that until about 14 days ago and decided to put it together again but in a different way.

Karin day ?

I'm giving myself a mission today, I've been planning to make this dress for quite a while but never gotten around to it. This is the skirt part of a broken and stained 40s dress that Mattias gave to me because he was using the white lace bodice for doll making. I'm going to shorten it, make a black velvet bodice instead and use one of the bows as decoration. In this picture I had already cut out pieces of the skirt where it was too stained to save, put it back together and removed one of the bows to put on the bodice instead. You'll see the result tomorrow! This is a promise!
