I made this the other day because I gave my sleeping bag case away to a guy in Copenhagen since he needed it more than I did. Also I like this new one a lot better since it's easier to carry it around with a larger handle. And it's prettier. Sadly my sleeping bag itself is really ugly so now I'm thinking I will need to decorate it somehow to match the case. The fabric is as always thrifted...

Ps! Our friend Pierre will guest blog for us a little bit this week! He has a lot of creative projects going on. And Åsa has finally graduated from bagery school and will be a little less busy perhaps. I have a week of intense studying ahead and then I will have summer off and start sewing clothes for my site again!

Today my flatmate Ulrika and I changed fabric on a sofa we found in the trash outside our apartment.

We didn't have any instructions or experience so I think we did really good!

I got all worked up with the easiness of changing fabrics and changed an old pretty gross brown fabric on the chair to this one from Johanna & Mattias, took five minutes!

I got these two broken dresses from Johanna & Mattias and decided to mend them yesterday on our sewing circle night. The pink 20s one was cut up by the shoulders and had to be taken up quite a bit since it was pretty stained by the hem. The pale turquoise one had a cut off sleeve so I cut the other one of too and made it sleeveless instead. Should have ironed it before I took pictures though…

It's a "Budapeststock/stubbe". It's basically meringue with nuts, and a chocolate/rome filling covered in marzipan, painted with chocolate and marzipan figures.

I made a long vintage gown that Mattias gave me in to a short coctail dress with a detatchable over skirt that you can wear separately. I took the bust decoration away and used it for the wide waist of the over skirt, cut the gown in half and used the bottom part for the over skirt, then I just hemmed the remaining dress part. It's really easy to do. (I know the hem needs to be ironed but I can't do that today so I just took a picture anyway)

Today I had a test in school, and one of the things we had to do was to make a cake. I was reaaally stressed because of all the other stuff we had to do, but I managed to make this cake in about 20 minutes. I haven't been in my best mood today, so I made the sign when I came home. I got a pretty good grade on it actually and I like it, but it could have been better if I only had have 15 more minutes. It did taste awesome.

Åsa said goodbye to Malmö with a embroidery

In Malmö, I stayed with my two best friends. Instead of writing an ordinary "thank you for letting me stay here"-note, I decided to make an embroidery for them. It took more time than expected, probably around 10 hours, but it was worth it.

Hey! Sorry I'm bad with updating, it's hard when my enforcer is in Malmö and I myself am very busy with other things also. I've started my classes, am doing stuff with my website and have also started the project of documenting everything I own and justifying why I need it. Which takes a lot of time and thinking too.

Anyway, my glasses that I've had since I was 14-ish broke a while ago and I'm way too poor to go to and fix them. The glass fell out and a small screw went missing. So I just sewed them back together again with black thread by hand and now they are good as new (though I still don't like them much).

Helmets are just too ugly to ever look in any way attractive, cool and/or sporty so it's better to go straight to ridiculous & great! Sadly the flash made the logo shine through way more than it does. I still love my helmet now though, and I hated the sight of it before. If you buy a can of spray paint it will last for lots of things. I sprayed my sewing machine case also, and my flatmate Kristina sprayed a shelf and some flower pots, our recycling bags and other things I don't remember right now.

PS. WEAR YOUR HELMETS!!!

I've been bad with updating again, sorry!

We were going to do this with bananas. Banana phones, banana Zoolander pose glasses, banana on head (Åsa has that in the first picture, didn't show!) eating bananas. However the machine tricked us and left us with crappy pictures and -70 kr. And we ate 1½ of the the bananas in anger, then took new pics.

We've been making a lot of cakes in school recently. Today we made a lot of chocolate decorations. This cake has a layer of brownie first, then a layer of milkchocolate mousse and on top of that, a white chocolate mousse. It's decorated with grapes and chocolate.

I finally took the time to finish the dress I made from the cut off skirt Mattias gave me! I cut the skirt up to get rid of some stains that wouldn't come out, put it back together again without the stained parts, removed one of the bows from the skirt and put it on the bodice I constructed in vintage velvet fabric I've found at a thrift store. Then I put elastics in the bottom part of the dress to make it a short puffy one. It's almost a full circle skirt so it has lots of volume now.

I had an efit-day (one photo/one hour) this monday, but my camera decided to die in the middle of the day. So the last photos are taken with Karin's camera.

I woke up at 11.00

I had breakfast and watched Kids in the hall at 12.00

At 13.00 I was dressed and ready to get something done.

My place looked like a mess, so I started to clean it. At 14.00 I was done with the bathroom and started to clean up my livingroom/bedroom.

I was still cleaning at 15.00, but at 16.00 Karin came over and we had a meeting about the blog. I also baked mint and chocolate brownies, and buns with apple and cinnamon filling, made of rich short pastry (?)

At 17 some other friends came over. Here's Pierre, Karin and Kristina.

Catarina was a bit late, but at 18, 19 she came!

After that I didn't take any photos. We drank tea and ate cookies for a while, Karin stayed a while longer and watched Mighty Boosh with me. And that was basically the day.

Åsa's new years resolutions

Karin told me to write a list with my new years resolution, so I did. But they turned out to be way too personal, but here are some I feel I can share. This year I tried to be as concrete as possible:

- document this year better (both with text and photos)
- not let dirty dishes stand for longer than three days
- pay my bills on time
- walk more
- don't get too drunk
- stop skipping classes
- always use condom when I have sex
- "Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours"

and of course be more creative.

+ Try to update this blog frequently, and be more creative over all. It's not really that
hard for me to take time to make at least something of value each day.
+ Be more conscious about politics, environmental issues in particular,
and try to create more politically relevant art/crafts.
+ Continue with not buying anything new at all. I hardly did last year either.
+ Take care of my people!

I've spent the day mending and modifying things.
+ I found an almost identical button to the one missing in the red blouse that Amelia sent me once when I bought dresses from her, so that I'm finally able to wear it!
+ I made a little red bow brooch
+ I mended my beloved black vintage clutch, which the wrist strap had fallen off of. I added a in style very similar vintage button to hide the mending and am very pleased.
+ I took in the back of a golden floral 50s suit jacket that my parents bought me so that it'd fit me better.

Today I framed this thing I don't know the english word of, I found it in a pile of trash strategically placed outside our door a while ago and have been looking for a way to expose it properly. Then I was at my grandmother's family farm when I was in Jönköping over christmas and found this frame out in the farm house. I took it home and cleaned it and when I got back i noticed they fitted perfectly together.

I've also been working on my life project, my socks, which I plan to mend until there is nothing left of the original socks and only mendings. My other project is to convince as many people as possible to start mending things because you most certainly will love your things more the more you try to care for them.

Recipe for blondies

Someone asked for the Blondie recipe. It it taken from a book by Linda Collister.
Here it is:

175 g white chocolate
115 g butter (could probably use less, they felt a bit too greasy)
1 1/4 dl sugar
2 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 dl flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
150 g macadamia nuts
110 g dark or white chocolate (roughly chopped)

Melt the white chocolate, add the sugar. Add the slighty whipped egg and the vanilla.
Whip for about 1 minute.
Add flour and baking powder and blend. Then add 100 g nuts and the chocolate.
Put the mixture in a baking tin and sprinkle the rest of the nuts on top

Bake in an oven, 180 degrees (C) for about 20 minutes

During christmas I've knitted bow ties for two of my friends. It was so much easier than a tie, looks better and took a lot less time.

Yesterday I invited some people (among them, Karin) for "julfika" at my place. So naturally I had to bake and I baked blondies with macadamia nuts and white chocolate, toffee and a vegan sponge cake. And I thought people could eat my ginger bread house. I like to feed my friends.

Yesterday in school we made ginger bread houses. This is what mine looks like:

I wasn't in a good mood and let an airplane crash in the roof.

but I became happy with the result.

When I carried it to the tram home, an old lady stopped me and told me that she thought it looked really nice. That made me very happy! And of course I will put on a loooot of candy on the roof, that's the best thing about ginger bread houses.

So I've been trying to do my secret project and it hasn't gone very good. But I'm gonna keep trying. And my camera is a bit wierd so I can't take photos right now. But I'm sick of excuses and so are you I guess.

Karin decorates a bra

When my friend had a boob job she gave me some of her old bras. All were black and pretty neutral though so I decided I'd decorate one yesterday. This was really really easy to do, just shirr a vintage ribbon and attach, and make a few bows to put where you want them. I'll make a matching pair of underwear some other day.

I'm still sick but I've been to the doctor and got some antibiotics so I'm feeling a bit better. Today I made this little frame thingie with a pretty fabric, embroided plastic and then I put these earrings in it. I got them from Ulla, they were missing their hooks so I repaired them.
The big frame I found in an abandoned building this summer and put fabric in to have somewhere to keep my brooches.
Åsa told me to do an assignment from http://www.learningtoloveyoumore.com/ and I found a mission where you should repair something so I repaired my wallet in which the plastics keeping library cards or photos in place were falling out so I stitched them back on. Not something big but something that I would probably never have gotten around to otherwise.

Yesterday when I was sick and bored I cut my bangs some more, henna dyed and sewed extensions in to my own hair and then sewed in lots of tiny beads from a broken vintage bracelet.

Today I've started a new project. It's half secret, but I'll give you some sneakpeaks. If everything goes as it should, it will be done this weekend. You don't have to be that smart to figure out what it is though.

It has to do with baking, and today I did a dough. This is the recipe:

Mix:
500g syrup
150g egg (1 egg= 50- 60g), (I used No egg)
160 sugar
10g bakingpowder

Add (and blend carefully):
300g butter
50g cinnamon
10g cloves
5g ginger
(spices can be changed)

Add:
1300g flour

Let it stay in the cooler for at least 24 hours

Okay so we've changed our old rules a bit as you may have noticed. We've also lost track of days since we have both had projects that have been creative enough but taken more than one or two or three or four days and that we haven't been able to show you. And sometimes we've just been lazy, or ill, or without access to the internetz.

Here are the new rules:

- We will do something creative every single day.

- If we can't account for something finished each day, we will post something we've made in the past to make up for it and then show the result in a separate post along with some info of how long it took to create so that you'll understand why we've not been updating.

- We will give eachother missions for a full week at the time instead of every morning because this always results in the mission being texted at about 7 in the evening when we're out of ideas. This wont make any real difference to you since we won't tell in advance what the missions may be. If we have an idea of our own what creative thing we want to do a certain day we will do that instead of the mission from the other person so there's no real point in telling in advance what we should do.

- You're super welcome to send us missions in comments or email, tell us if you want it to do something together or one by one and what that may be. You can give us tips about blogs doing interesting things we can submit our projects to. Or competitions you want us to enter, or something like that.

- Some of our friends/fellow bloggers have asked us if they don't want them to do guest projects, and of course we want that! Just say that you wanna and we will give you a mission if we have a good idea on what we want you to do. Especially if you're Natalie.

Sorry that I suck with the updating! But I was working on these collages I was talking about, and then I went to Jönköping and got in to Länssalongen with them, yay!
